First time visitors to Wye Meadow are usually immediately struck by two things
Both the above pictures were taken from the campsite. The top image shows its beautiful setting in the Hay countryside. The bottom picture shows its proximity to the Festival site. The white marquee is one of the Festival Pavilion just across the main Brecon-Hay road from the site. You can park your car alongside your tent for the duration of the Festival and take the short walk across the road to all the events. Wye Meadow is a greenfield site that is agricultural land for fifty weeks of the year. When the Hay Festival comes round the Wye Meadow crew transform it in to a site for Hay Festival enthusiasts who have come prepared for camping. As we are only open for two weeks every year we can only provide the basics that you'll need. There's a fresh water supply, outdoor wash up sinks, central toilet and shower blocks that are kept clean throughout the Festival, emptying facility for campers with their own toilets and a number of portoloos scattered round the site. Please note there are no electric hook ups, no hard standing for caravans, no laundry and certainly not an outdoor swimming pool or sauna. Facilities:
The Wye Meadow Centre offers a few little extra comforts for Festival campersBased in and around a marquee close to the site office, the Wye Meadow Centre provides campers with a little shelter come rain or come shine, whilst they order their favourite coffee, buy their newspaper or enjoy a hot breakfast. The independent partners of Wye Meadow based at the Centre for 2015 are listed below.
